How did you hear about our venue?
The venue finder HireSpace found this venue along with a number of others to do site visits for.
Why did you choose the Science and Industry Museum for your event?
I was determined to pick a venue that spoke volumes for the city of Manchester. I wanted it to really feel like we were in the city we were hosting this event in – as opposed to a generic event space in a hotel. Steeped in history, it felt like the perfect location to host an event focussed on the energy transition.
Please describe the brief of the event, when did it take place? Who was the event for? How many people? What were the core goals and objectives?
I was tasked with building a roadshow of events for our CEO to visit different cities around the UK to meet Octopus customers and answer some of their questions. Taking place on Monday 14th September, the goal was to treat our customers to evening of talks and discussions to not only better educate them in what Octopus hasd to offer, but also give them a very intimate chance to put their questions to our CEO and founder, Greg Jackson.
Which space at the museum did you use as part of the event and how did it enhance the experience for your guests?
We really pushed the limits with this particular event by wanting to host the sessions in the middle of the museum itself. I think doing this provided a wow factor for our guests in attendance and a lasting memory. We also used the outside courtyard area for the drinks reception element – which I understand was a first for the museum to host an event in that capacity. It worked a treat and I am very grateful to the museum for being so open to trying this out.
Did you opt for any bespoke catering packages, such as themed canapes or arrival drinks, (By Benugo) or external AV production for your event?
No bespoke catering and we used the in-house team for AV, but both were exceptional.
How did the setting of the Science and Industry Museum contribute to the overall feel and purpose of the event?
I think it worked wonderfully hosting this event at the Museum. I was very conscious that I didn’t want it to seem like people had come up from London and just copy and pasted an event into the city. By hosting this event at the museum, we were able to really cement the local feel to the evening. It felt relevant, important and unmissable.
What feedback did you receive from the guests?
People loved it, they were in awe of the catering, the accommodating of the museum and the fact it felt like a special venue to host an intimate event.
Comments:
Thank you to the entire team for helping us make this dream and vision a reality. It was really special to be able to host the event at the museum and I would highly recommend it to other event planners looking to pin down something special for their events.
